About Houseware:

The data landscape is changing, and at Houseware, we're at the forefront of this transformation. In today's business environment, data warehouses have become the epicenter of data gravity. In response to this shift, Houseware is reinventing product analytics by creating solutions that are innately designed for the warehouse. We eliminate the requirement for external SaaS providers and empower businesses to tap into the full potential of their own data.

Our team is composed of experienced engineers with a history of creating SaaS products for fledgling startups. We excel at addressing 0->1 problems, adopt a strong product-focused mindset, and have a predisposition towards action.

The Role:

As a Senior Software Engineer for the Data Platform team at Houseware, your contribution will be vital in our quest to develop the next wave of Product Analytics solutions. Your responsibility will be concentrated on designing, constructing, and managing our warehouse-native, multi-tenant data platform that aids our clients in understanding intricate user behaviors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, manage and enhance our multi-tenant data platform, ensuring optimum scalability and performance.

  • Develop our cutting-edge Query Engine that produces complex yet efficient SQL queries.

  • Build large-scale backend APIs in Go capable of handling high-volume traffic.

  • Establish and maintain cloud infrastructure for backend systems & data warehouses, prioritizing reliability and security

  • Enhance engineering standards and uphold a high standard for code quality and simplicity.

  • Establish benchmarks for software design, data storage and communication, and mentor the engineering team in these areas.

  • Collaborate with other teams to align engineering endeavors with business goals.

  • Lead projects from initial concept to final general availability release.

  • Perform performance assessments on existing systems & workloads, using findings to enhance scanning, indexing, caching, and data partitioning strategies.

  • Maintain awareness of the monthly expenses of the data platform and eliminate inefficiencies wherever feasible.

  • Expand the possibilities of how our clients analyze their product data.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in a Software Engineering or similar position creating solutions based on distributed compute systems like Apache Spark, Apache Trino (formerly Presto), Snowflake, BigQuery.

  • Thorough understanding of SQL and distributed compute systems.

  • Proven experience in constructing production APIs at scale.

  • Prior experience working in Infrastructure/Devops (familiarity with AWS & Terraform is a plus)

  • Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to think from first principles. You do not shy away from problems, regardless of their scale or impact.

  • A tendency prefer to launch early and iterate. We believe in making small incremental modifications to existing systems as opposed to large multi-quarter projects.

  • Data savviness- a strong understanding of data visualizations and data-driven decision making.

  • Experience with Go and Python.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience developing product analytics solutions or working with clickstream analytics.

We offer you the opportunity to join a dynamic, inclusive work environment, centered on innovation and growth. At Houseware, we prioritize work-life balance and the professional advancement of our team members.
