Join Our Team as a Software Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer to become part of our core speech technology team. In this role, you'll collaborate with engineers, researchers, and voice AI experts to enable multiple Voice AI products across different sectors using SoundHound's cutting-edge ASR technologies. This position offers you the opportunity to utilize your expertise in both software engineering and machine learning to address real-world Voice AI challenges, delivering tangible benefits to SoundHound's customers.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

• Training, tuning, and testing state-of-the-art ASR models for various languages across all SoundHound Voice AI products utilizing machine learning and deep learning techniques.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless ASR technology integration into SoundHound products.
• Running benchmarks to track ASR solution performance, optimizing models for accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
• Providing custom ASR solutions to address specific customer or product needs.
• Troubleshooting and resolving customer-related ASR issues promptly.
• Conducting data-driven proof-of-concept experiments and applying SoundHound's ASR and ML technologies to real-world applications.

Qualifications

We'd love to hear from you if you possess:

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields with 5 years of full-time work experience, or a Master’s degree with 3 years of experience.
• Experience with automatic speech recognition, keyword detection, or natural language understanding.
• A solid understanding of deep learning fundamentals and proficiency in deep learning frameworks.
• Proficiency in writing production-level Python code.

Preferred Skills

We'd be exceptionally excited if you have:

• Experience with Kaldi, PyTorch, and TensorFlow.
• Worked on projects enabling on-device models using TensorFlow Lite.
• Knowledge of the full ASR pipeline and experience in developing, tuning, deploying, and maintaining ASR models.
• Experience with NLP techniques related to ASR.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and other containerization technologies in a cloud service environment.
• Proficiency in writing production-level C++ code.

This role is available throughout Canada. For those within a 100-kilometer radius of our Toronto office, we encourage in-person collaboration on three pre-scheduled "core days" each month. Outside these core days, this position offers flexibility for virtual/remote, hybrid, and in-office work settings.
