Core Responsibilities

  • Understand customers’ existing digital operations data and how it integrates into Plato’s data fusion platform.
  • Customize Plato applications to meet specific customer needs.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis and data science to generate actionable insights from Plato’s unique spatio-temporal data.
  • Conduct hypothesis testing and use statistical methods to assess their validity.
  • Understand the context of KPIs and customers’ business needs to help create products or experiences that address customer pain points.
  • Act as an internal expert and consultant for each customer insight module.
  • Rapidly generate and iterate through hypotheses to build relevant, story-driven insights.
  • Craft compelling stories using data and data visualization to captivate audiences with the power of insights.
  • Work in a data-driven environment to drive process improvement and translate high-level business goals into working software solutions and customer-facing outputs.
  • Take ownership of your work by being proactive, asking questions, sharing ideas, and challenging norms.
  • Provide training to customers on leveraging Plato’s technology to solve business problems and offer ongoing technical support post-deployment.
  • Manage customer deployments from start to finish.

Qualifications

  • BS, MS, or PhD in an engineering/quantitative field (e.g., computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, pure/applied sciences).
  • 3+ years in a similar technical role at a fast-growing technology company (solution engineer, application engineer, data scientist, senior data analyst).
  • Proficiency in Python (numpy, scipy, pandas, matplotlib, plotly) and OOP programming.
  • End-to-end experience with data (databases, querying, aggregation, analysis, and visualization).
  • Familiarity with networking and Linux environments.
  • Able to work from our San Francisco office at least three days a week.
  • Proactive problem-solver who can collaborate with internal and external partners.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues and measure success.
  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, ambiguous startup environment.
  • Willingness to travel approximately three days per month.
  • Valid passport or ability to obtain one.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experienced and comfortable engaging with customers.
  • Ability to understand large data sets and use appropriate technologies and methodology to manipulate data (e.g., SQL, R, Python, ETL pipelines).
  • Prior experience with modern data technology stacks such as Databricks, Airflow, etc.
  • Exceptional data visualization and analysis skills with expertise in tools like Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Seaborne.
  • Analytical and logical thinker with good judgment, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented, forward-looking with strong leadership and ownership abilities.
