About the Work

  • Develop requirements for the behavior of an autonomous system in compliance with the rules of the road.
  • Collaborate closely with Legal, Public Trust,  Product, Behavior, and other Autonomy software teams to ensure that the requirements align with product goals and are implementable by Behavior, while following the rules and norms of driving. 
  • Design and implement metrics and behavior models to verify that the autonomous system meets the requirements.
  • Suggest and quantify the extent of test suites for verification of autonomous behavior, including ensuring the realism and relevance of proposed tests across simulation, on-road, and closed course.
  • Analyze test data and collaborate with development and data science teams to establish acceptance criteria for the metrics.
  • Work closely with the simulation infrastructure and test integration teams to establish automated test workflows.

About You

  • Advanced understanding of robotic systems operation and the ability to use this knowledge to build verification and validation tooling and infrastructure. 
  • Experience in defining behavioral requirements for SAE L2/L3/L4 systems to comply with the rules of the road
  • Practical experience in systems engineering
  • Capacity to read code in C++ and write code in Python
  • Strong communication skills - both oral and written
  • 5+ years of relevant technical work experience, of which 3+ years should be in robotics software
  • Bonus - Familiarity with safety standards such as STPA, ISO-21448, ISO-26262

At Nuro, your base salary is one part of your total remuneration package. For this role, the reasonably expected salary range is between $152,000.00 and $228,000.00 for the level at which this job has been targeted. Your base salary will depend on various factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. If you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower salary range would apply. This role is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.
