- Understand the environment architecture, various applications, data flow process and its limitations from the testing perspective. Subsequently, develop a risk-based test approach using available resources.
- Promote the continuous enhancement of quality standards and code quality, by conducting reviews and walkthroughs with the data scrum team.
- Introduce meaningful, viable, and feasible quality standards, which can be adopted and upheld by the team, to improve quality across the delivery life cycle.
- Develop well-considered test approaches for all relevant changes on the data platform and ensure the best possible test coverage.
- Ensure that all test artifacts are thoroughly and clearly documented throughout the planning and execution phases.
- Ensure that the following components are addressed during planning and execution:
- Functional testing (focused on business outcomes)
- Reconciliation
- Data completeness
- Data Accuracy checks
- Error and Exception Handling
- ETL process checks
- Data Retention
- Unhappy / Negative scenario validation
- Create production release notes for every release.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of quality assurance, automated testing, continuous delivery and agile practices by collaborating with the team and keeping current with modern software development/data warehousing practices.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of Database and ETL testing
- Experience in implementing automation in the Data realm.
Required experience, understanding or qualifications including:
- Advanced SQL skills
- Detailed understanding and hands-on testing experience of Data Warehouses, Business Intelligence, and Analytics systems.
- Ability to work autonomously and act as the main contact on projects if needed
- Demonstrated experience in using industry-standard Testing Techniques, including the use of decision tables and state transition diagrams
- Experience in an Agile software development and testing environment
- ISTQB certified Advanced Technical Test Analyst or similar is preferred
- Industry experience within Superannuation/Investments is preferred
