Job Description

As a Senior Wetland Ecologist, you will conduct and oversee aquatic resource delineations throughout Northern California, in alignment with the 1987 Corps of Engineers (USACE) Wetland Delineation Manual and its regional supplements. Your role will involve planning, gathering background information, coordinating with our GIS team for field data collection, and managing field teams. You will also be responsible for preparing and reviewing aquatic resource delineation reports and other technical documents.

This full-time position requires occasional overnight travel to field sites and provides an opportunity to work with a skilled team of natural resources professionals, including wildlife biologists, botanists, restoration ecologists, and regulatory specialists. Additionally, you may be required to offer other environmental services, such as botanical surveys and CEQA/NEPA documentation, based on your expertise and project needs.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and lead aquatic resource delineations.
  • Travel to field sites throughout Northern California and occasionally Southern California.
  • Respond promptly to deployment and deliverable requests.
  • Collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Utilize GPS and other mapping technologies to collect field data.
  • Manage delineation tasks and coordinate with regulatory specialists.
  • Prepare aquatic resource delineation reports and other technical documents.

Basic Qualifications

  • BS in Botany, Biology, Ecology, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in wetland and related biological fields.
  • Valid driver’s license and successful Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check.

Additional Skills

  • Strong experience with California flora and aquatic resource delineations.
  • Applied knowledge of soil science and related regulations (e.g., Clean Water Act Sections 404, 401).
  • Experience in preparing proposals, scopes, and budgets.
  • Knowledge of botanical and/or wildlife resources and restoration practices.
  • Proficiency in Geographic Information System (GIS) software.

The pay range for this position is $79,643.00 - $135,392.00, considering factors such as work experience, skills, certifications, competencies, and geographic location.
