Job Opportunity: Silicon Engineer – System Level Testing Volume Ramp at Google

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify for this role, candidates must possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience in silicon bring-up or validation, debugging post-silicon issues, and developing silicon tests.
  • Proficiency in programming with C.

Preferred Qualifications

We highly value candidates with the following qualifications:

  • A Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related domains.
  • Experience in embedded software development and related toolchains, including software debug tools (e.g., GDB) and hardware debug tools (e.g., JTAG/TRACE32).
  • Familiarity with Android, Embedded Linux, RTOS, or bare-metal software environments.
  • Experience in Python programming.
  • Background in factory testing.

About The Role

Join the forefront of innovation at Google, where our computational challenges are too big, complex, and unique for off-the-shelf hardware solutions. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to design and build the hardware, software, and networking technologies that power all of Google's services. Your work as a Hardware Engineer will involve creating systems that form the heart of the world’s most extensive and powerful computing infrastructure.

Within the Google Tensor team, you will enable the system-level testing methodology for volume ramp. Your contributions will be pivotal in test planning, integration, stabilization, and debugging on various post-silicon platforms. You will collaborate across numerous IP teams to support the Product Development and Test Engineering (PDTE) team in volume ramp tasks, building a deep understanding of post-silicon characterization to improve factory yield.

Responsibilities

As a Silicon Engineer focused on System Level Testing Volume Ramp, you will:

  • Contribute to test planning, test development/stabilization, and error debugging to support the silicon volume ramp at the system level.
  • Collaborate with our PDTE team on silicon volume ramp tasks.
  • Work closely with Design and Validation leads to support the system-level testing platform.
  • Partner with internal test engineers and external engineers on screening parts and debugging RMAs (Returned Material Authorizations).
  • Collect post-silicon characterization data to enhance production quality and yield.
