At Apple, our Data Analytics team is dedicated to enhancing user experience by ensuring the stability of operating systems, collecting feature usage telemetry, and evaluating device performance. Our team utilizes robust privacy-preserving techniques and aggregates data from customers who have given consent to inform strategic direction. We develop and manage a variety of Big Data infrastructure products and applications to achieve these objectives.

Job Description

We are seeking a talented Site Reliability Engineer to join our team. If tackling large-scale problems excites you, we'd love to speak with you! As part of our team, you will assist Apple engineers in answering critical questions about their hardware, firmware, and software. Collaborating with engineers across Apple, you will help maintain the availability of our suite of analytics applications and ensure the integrity of the associated data.

The ideal candidate will automate our processes to enhance reliability and manage thousands of compute and storage instances across a large heterogeneous infrastructure. You will delve into complex data and application issues to perform root cause analysis of large-scale problems. Additionally, you will collaborate with teammates and peers to solve problems, applying critical thinking skills and an understanding of complex distributed systems.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of Apple's applications such as Mail and Safari and improve the performance of macOS and iOS.

Responsibilities

• Build, monitor, and troubleshoot complex data infrastructure at the petabyte scale
• Support the continuous development and deployment of multi-service analytics applications
• Develop tools and processes to automate the management of systems and data

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience with at least one of the following languages and related development tools: Python, Ruby, Java, Scala
• Experience with Linux systems administration
• Passion for quality and attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience managing and supporting large-scale distributed Big Data applications in a production environment
• Experience with one or more of the following platforms: HDFS, Yarn, Spark, Impala, Hbase, MapReduce, Kubernetes, and other cloud services

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is part of our comprehensive compensation package, which includes the potential for advancement as you grow in your role. The base pay range for this position is between $125,800 and $229,400, dependent on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
