The Role:

Sotheby's Data Team is at the forefront of transforming the organization by leveraging deep insights. We are searching for a skilled and proactive Snowflake Data Architect to enhance our data capabilities, driving trust, adoption, and democratization of insights. This pivotal role interacts with Engineering, Product, Operations, and Research teams to pave the way for innovative product development and uncover new business opportunities through strategic data utilization. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong technical expertise, business acumen, and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect and define the technical and strategic direction for our Data Engineering and Business Intelligence teams.
  • Develop and implement robust data warehouse solutions aligning with internal stakeholder goals.
  • Engineer comprehensive data management systems to ensure integration, protection, and robustness of Sotheby’s data assets.
  • Lead data-driven initiatives enhancing data preparation, integration, and analysis.
  • Forge strong collaborations with cross-functional teams to align data strategies with organizational objectives and OKRs.
  • Act as a key data evangelist, influencing stakeholders and promoting a culture of data-driven decision-making.
  • Deliver consistent and scalable analytics solutions, maintaining oversight of business metrics and performance indicators.

Ideal Experience & Competencies:

  • Advanced degree in Business, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics or a related quantitative field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Data Architect and 5 years in executive-level business insights roles.
  • Expertise in data modeling, Snowflake environmental best practices, and analytics technologies (SQL, R, Python).
  • Proven ability in leading complex projects in collaboration with engineering teams and presenting insights to executive audiences.
  • Strong proficiency with Data Warehouse technologies, particularly Snowflake and dbt, along with BI tools like Tableau and ERP systems such as SAP.
