About the Role: Software Engineer - Data Engineering

Skydio is seeking a Data Engineer to join our team. This role is crucial in our mission to enhance the performance and usability of our drones through advanced data gathering and analysis technologies. You will manage and innovate the technologies that collect and analyze data from our drones, driving product performance and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Develop tools to enable engineers to quickly evaluate the performance of various drone components.
• Create and implement visualization tools and dashboards to provide easy access to performance data across the company.
• Continuously improve the technology that captures and uploads data from our drones.
• Collaborate with software and hardware teams to define and refine key performance metrics.
• Identify and suggest improvements in product performance metrics.
• Promote a metrics-driven approach to product development for faster, more effective progress.
• Play a vital role in the company’s safety and reliability initiatives by using data and analytics to identify and mitigate risks.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who possess:

• Practical experience working with robotic systems.
• A strong background in data science and analytics, particularly in a robotics context.
• Knowledge of databases and data processing techniques.
• Strategic thinking in applying data and metrics to guide software development.
• Proficiency in C++ and Python.
• The ability to coordinate across different teams and maintain positive relationships.
• An advanced degree (MS or PhD) in a relevant field.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $145,000 to $215,000, depending on skill level, proficiencies, transferable knowledge, and experience. In addition to base salary, Skydio offers comprehensive benefit plans, various incentives, and stipends.
