Mission Summary The Data Ingestion and Access team is in charge of Motional's sturdy core processing pipeline, which handles the vast influx of petabytes of data from our self-driving vehicles. Positioned at the intersection of data-focused analysis and strategic decision-making, our team partners with a diverse variety of departments. We strive to enhance automated metrics extraction, facilitate manual assessments of specific incidents, and aid comprehensive ad-hoc analyses. Possessing a global footprint, our team maintains a well-established presence in vibrant cities like Las Vegas and Singapore, in addition to versatile remote operations. What you'll be doing - Whether as an infrastructure generalist or specialist based on your interest and experience, aid us in constructing the physical and AWS infrastructure required to process and curate petabytes of data. - Enhance the cost efficiency, time efficiency, and dependability of processing. - Develop and preserve strong inter-team interfaces and data abstractions. - Work together with cross-functional machine learning, robotics, and data analysis teams to influence design for scalability, testability, flexibility, and cost efficiency. - Contribute with driven colleagues in a fast-paced, cooperative setting. The team’s project focuses include: - Ingestion of raw data from self-driving vehicles (LIDAR data, camera data, radar data, other diagnostic data, etc.), - Constructing and enhancing AWS microservices, - Interfacing with IT and Vehicle Engineering to optimize on-prem offloading infrastructure, - Adding functionality and enhancing the reliability of internal Python SDK and REST APIs, - Scaling the physical and cloud infrastructure 100x to support commercial operations growth, and - Achieving 40% or more cost savings on processing. What we're looking for - Solid Python skills and practices. - Experience with AWS services and solutions (lambdas, step functions, s3, terraform, etc.). - Experience in developing large, high-scale cloud applications or related experience. - Strong software design skills with the capability to work independently with minimal guidance. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - A strong sense of ownership: Steering projects from conception to production. - A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field. Bonus points (not required) - Outstanding AWS cloud development experience or certifications. - Experience with machine learning and/or robotics.
