About Status
Status is developing the tools and infrastructure necessary for promoting a secure, private, and open web3.
Aiming to uphold privacy rights, reduce the risk of censorship, and facilitate open, transparent economic transactions, Status is fostering a community where anyone can join and contribute.
As an organization, Status is dedicated to propelling the web3 ecosystem forward through research, the development of developer tools, and by supporting the open-source community.
From a product standpoint, Status is an open-source, Ethereum-based application that enables users to chat, transact, and access a revolutionary array of DApps on the decentralized web. However, Status is also building foundational infrastructure for the entirety of the Ethereum ecosystem. This includes the Nimbus ETH 1.0 and 2.0 clients, the Keycard hardware wallet, and the Waku messaging protocol - a peer-to-peer communication layer for Web3.
As a team, Status has been entirely distributed from its inception. Currently, our team comprises over 200 core contributors and a growing number of community members hailing from various backgrounds and located across the globe.
We place a great deal of importance on open source, and our organizational structure embodies minimal hierarchy and no fixed working hours. We advocate for working with high levels of autonomy while adhering to the priorities of the organization.
