Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Software Test Engineer, you will develop advanced motion control systems for off-highway industrial machinery in agriculture and construction sectors, focusing on vehicles such as tractors, harvesters, dozers, and excavators. Your tasks will include:

  • Creating automated testing tools, scripts, and procedures for code evaluation and validation
  • Supporting field data collection to bolster control system software and tools development
  • Transitioning testing from on-vehicle to HIL/SIL/MIL simulation environments to enhance development speed, quality, and reduce costs
  • Developing and executing test plans/procedures for MIL/SIL, HIL, and on-vehicle testing
  • Setting up a Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testbench and creating HIL test procedures
  • Writing model-/software-in-the-loop (MIL/SIL) test cases to increase test coverage
  • Conducting on-vehicle testing for plant model validation and supporting RCCA analysis
  • Collecting vehicle data logs with rigorous methodologies
  • Developing data analysis scripts for clear, concise result presentations
  • Utilizing C++, Python, Matlab/Simulink, or other scripting languages to achieve objectives

Required Skills and Experience

To excel in this role, you should bring:

  • 5+ years of control system test experience for dynamic physical systems (e.g. ground vehicles)
  • Bachelor's, Master’s, or higher degree in a related field such as Computer Engineering, Robotics, Aerospace, or Mechatronics Engineering
  • Proficiency with Matlab/Simulink tools and scripting languages like Python
  • Experience with test, verification, validation, and algorithm productization
  • Data collection and organization skills
  • Familiarity with data statistics and probability theory
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% annually (including internationally)
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills
  • Problem-solving and autonomous working capabilities
  • Experience with J1939 or NMEA2000 CAN Communication

Desirable Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate may also possess:

  • 12+ years of relevant work experience
  • Hands-on controls experience in off-highway, automotive, or aerospace sectors
  • HIL and SIL testing expertise, including familiarity with HIL testbench HW/SW (e.g. NI Veristand)
  • Experience in GNSS+IMU navigation, autonomous vehicle control, and safety-critical software development
  • Knowledge of testing tools and instrumentation sensors (e.g. potentiometers, hall effect sensors, accelerometers)
  • Proficiency in comprehensive test suite design for maximum coverage and efficiency
  • Experience with Linux-based operating systems
  • Proficiency with C++
