Job Summary

Howden Specialty Broking is establishing an internal data engineering capability and is looking for a Data Engineer with a strong background in working on Microsoft-based data platform projects, particularly with robust Azure experience. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience delivering data solutions using Azure services, including SQL and ADF. You'll support solution reviews and designs and ensure best practices and development approaches are followed. Managing multiple project deliveries with outstanding attention to detail is critical for this role.

Responsibilities

• Experience in Azure platform architecture and developing data engineering pipelines
• Proficiency in SQL, ADF, and Azure Analysis Services
• Provide technical expertise in data engineering, analysis, orchestrations, and enrichment
• Enable use cases at the silver layer with direct business impact
• Be a key part of the Data Engineering and Specialty Client Insights team

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Data Engineer or similar role
• Proven track record in Data Engineering and deriving business insights from data
• Preferable experience working with insurance data
• Proficiency with data tools such as ADF, Analysis Services (DAX), SQL, and Fabric
• Knowledge of good development practices and automation
• Highly organized with strong planning, prioritization, and time management skills
• Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
• Self-starter willing to develop new skills (e.g., Python, Databricks)
