Job Description

We are excited to offer the position of Senior Data Engineer within our Data Integration & Analytics team at the GIS Application & Platform Services Department. This role plays a crucial part in managing the entire lifecycle of our data, including its quality and operations. You will be instrumental in providing data engineering solutions and ensuring data reliability across strategic platforms such as our enterprise data lake on AWS/Snowflake and our enterprise data warehouse on Snowflake.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will:

• Architect and design scalable data lake solutions on AWS S3 and Snowflake, focusing on security, performance, and automation.
• Build, optimize, and maintain data lakes to store and analyze vast amounts of structured and unstructured data.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, plan development, and ensure high data quality.
• Define technical specifications, develop integration requirements, and provide thorough documentation of the data engineering processes.
• Apply best practices in quality assurance and metadata management to support the enterprise data catalog.
• Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies, including data encryption and role-based access control.

Required Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Over 5 years of experience in data engineering with extensive knowledge of AWS services, Apache software, and Snowflake.
• Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Scala, SQL, and expertise in AWS, including S3, Glue, Lambda, EMR, and Athena.
• Experience with data integration platforms, near-real-time data replication, and data warehousing solutions.
• Certifications in AWS and Snowflake data engineering are a plus.

Education & Experience

A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science/Engineering is required for consideration.
