At Capital One, we are looking for a Sr. Distinguished Data Engineer to enhance our technology footprint and drive cutting-edge solutions in our Technology Data Excellence tower. Based in West Creek 4 (12074), Richmond, Virginia, this role involves significant contributions towards optimizing our application data architecture and data governance practices, focusing primarily on operations and telemetry data.

What You Will Do

As a Sr. Distinguished Data Engineer, you will:

• Lead the development and strategic implementation of new technology solutions.
• Engage deeply in technology architecture while also participating in high-level strategic decisions.
• Pioneer modern technologies, promoting awareness and adoption across the team.
• Operate as a trusted advisor across various technology domains, influencing use cases and implementations.
• Mentor and develop next-generation tech talent within Capital One and participate in active recruitment.

Who You Are

A visionary and a role model with a robust technical expertise, you are:

• Highly experienced in data engineering and data architecture.
• Skilled in building solutions with AWS and keen on driving engineering excellence.
• Adept in Python, SQL, Scala, and deploying machine learning models.
• Effective in communication, able to influence stakeholders across all organizational levels.
• Curious about emerging trends and unafraid to challenge current processes.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum of 9 years in data engineering and 5 years in data architecture.
• At least 2 years hands-on experience with AWS.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in a relevant field.
• Extensive experience in data modeling and understanding ontology standards.
• Proven track record in Python, SQL, or Scala, and implementing data processing solutions on AWS.
