Job Summary

We are looking for a Sr. Manager to lead a team of proficient Data Engineers. This team tackles complex data collection, transformation, analysis, and monitoring challenges using advanced cloud-based tools. You will guide projects involving new development, enhancements, and cross-functional integrations. Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering and collaborating with product and management teams, you will strategically lead and inspire your team.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of individual contributors, enabling hands-on career development.
  • Scale the team and support their growth, identifying opportunities aligning with career goals.
  • Ensure engineers stay current with technological developments within the industry.
  • Advocate for data quality, security, and performance improvements.
  • Create and drive strategies aligning with Company’s overall vision and business goals.
  • Ensure on-time delivery of solutions while maintaining sustainability and avoiding technical debt.
  • Facilitate regular process meetings for strong communication within the team.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and refine long and short-term roadmaps.
  • Provide guidance to engineering teams and departments on product and technical requirements.
  • Manage deliverables, adhering to deadlines, specifications, and budgets, and report progress to leadership.
  • Address diverse data-oriented challenges, collaborating with various teams and gaining insights into ad tech.
  • Conduct performance reviews, ensuring adherence to Company standards.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 8+ years of data engineering experience, with team leadership.
  • Experience with large scale Lakehouse architecture like Delta Lake, Iceberg, Snowflake.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with experience initiating and driving projects.
  • Passion for developing engineers and fostering team collaboration.
  • Ability to balance trade-offs required for timely shipping without compromising quality.
  • Self-starter comfortable with ambiguity and fast-paced environments.
  • Experience maintaining technical roadmaps balancing novel and existing platform improvements.
  • Proficiency in backend languages like Java, Scala, C++, Python (we use Python).
  • Familiarity with ETL and pipeline creation for large datasets.
  • Experience utilizing cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS.
  • Experience in hiring and managing teams of 5+ members.
