About Yahoo Platforms Engineering (YPE)

Under the guidance of the CTO, the Yahoo Platforms Engineering group drives all Yahoo verticals to develop premium products that reach global markets at unparalleled standards. We're crafting modern, secure, and efficient software platforms to power Yahoo's brands on a massive scale. The YPE team now seeks a seasoned AI/ML Architect enthusiastic about spearheading this cloud transformation initiative.

Role Responsibilities

As a Sr. Principal Architect at Yahoo, you will:

• Collaborate with engineers and architects across the organization to enhance AI/ML developer tools.
• Foster the AI/ML community within the company.
• Identify suitable Yahoo platforms for cloud implementation.
• Develop and refine standards that integrate with the AI/ML ecosystem effectively.
• Bring depth of cloud knowledge in evaluating and selecting optimal AI/ML cloud service offerings.
• Ensure the security and governance of all platforms, whether in-house or outsourced.
• Manage full cloud platform environments, including Kubernetes and associated cloud services.
• Drive innovation by proactively finding solutions to complex problems.
• Improve the pathway for standard procedures to benefit overall engineering processes.

Job Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should have:

• Prior experience in developer productivity tools.
• Excellent teamwork and communication abilities.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the cloud sector.
• Proven capability in building and deploying large-scale systems.
• Expertise in AWS services like SageMaker and EKS, and GCP services such as Vertex AI and AutoML.
• Skills in cloud-neutral solutions such as MLflow, and in scripting with CloudFormation or Terraform.
• Strong familiarity with AWS/GCP APIs, automation, CI/CD workflows, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in Kubernetes, and coding in languages like Go, Python, Java, or Ruby.
• Experience in training and mentoring others in AI/ML technologies.
