About the Role
Our Risk Data Science team is seeking a Data Scientist to develop advanced machine learning models and drive measurement, strategy, and data-driven decision-making. You'll collaborate with Credit, Risk, Product, Engineering, and Operations teams to enhance the loan origination process, improve fraud detection, and support loss mitigation. Your efforts will directly impact our business's profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve machine learning models and strategies supporting various credit and operational procedures, including underwriting, account and portfolio management, loan processing enhancement, fraud detection, and loss mitigation.
- Proactively identify opportunities to apply advanced machine learning approaches (e.g., supervised and unsupervised learning algorithms, graph database and modeling, GenAI, NLP, Image Recognition) to solve complex business problems.
- Explore and leverage in-house, external, and open-source machine learning software/algorithms.
- Collaborate with the Model Risk Management team to ensure models meet high-level rigor and governance requirements.
- Work closely with Product and Engineering teams for model deployment.
- Perform ongoing monitoring of models through dashboard construction and KPI tracking.
- Present model performance and insights to Credit, Risk, and Business Unit leaders.

What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a quantitative field required; Master's or higher degrees preferred.
- 6+ years of experience building and deploying statistical or machine learning algorithms in a commercial setting, including methods such as regression, clustering, outlier detection, decision trees, nearest neighbors, support vector machines, ensemble methods, neural networks, deep learning, and GenAI applications.
- Commitment to continuously follow advancements in machine learning and artificial intelligence to update your knowledge and skills.
- Experience working closely with Product, Engineering, and Model Risk Management teams.
- Strong experience in Python and SQL, writing clean, maintainable, scalable, and robust code.
- Excellent knowledge of databases and related languages/tools such as SQL, NoSQL, Hive.
- Exceptional English communication skills.
