Sr Specialist Solutions Engineer (SSE) - Data Governance at Databricks

Join Databricks as a Sr Specialist Solutions Engineer (SSE) - Data Governance and lead various customers in the adoption of Unity Catalog (a unified data governance solution) and Delta Sharing (a secure data sharing platform) on Databricks. This customer-facing role involves production deployment experience with data governance solutions and hands-on experience with cloud data lakes and data warehouses. You'll work closely with Solution Architects to help customers govern their files, tables, machine learning models, and dashboards in the cloud, while utilizing our sharing technologies.

Role and Impact

In this role, you will:

  • Provide technical leadership to guide strategic customers for successful implementations of Unity Catalog and Delta Sharing—from advisory and design to deployment and troubleshooting.
  • Understand built-in roles and identity concepts in Databricks, and map these to organizational requirements.
  • Educate customers on governance models and their application to Databricks data governance products.
  • Support Solution Architects with advanced technical aspects including pilot advisory services, custom proof of concept content, workload sizing, and custom architectures.
  • Conduct tutorials and training to enhance community adoption (including hackathons and conference presentations).
  • Contribute actively to the Databricks Community.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have:

  • 3+ years of experience in a technical role with data governance or data management expertise.
  • Experience with cloud governance tools like Collibra, Alation, Azure Purview, Atlan, Apache Atlas, Privacera, Inmmuta, etc.
  • Proven ability to design and develop a data governance model that supports varying levels of access control, data isolation, and data sharing.
  • Experience implementing data governance solutions in production environments with complex needs.
  • Experience working with Meta Stores (e.g., Hive Metastore) and governance policies, roles for cloud data storage systems.
  • Professional experience with Big Data technologies (such as Spark, Hadoop, or Kafka) for at least 2 years.
  • Production programming experience in SQL, Python, Scala, or Java.
  • At least 2 years of customer-facing experience in pre-sales or post-sales roles.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent through work experience.

This remote role is open to Germany residents, with a preference for candidates located near the job listing area and who can travel up to 30% as needed.
