Job Description
Role: Sr Staff System Engineer
What You'll Bring to Renesas:
The Software & Digitalization organization empowers customers to design and develop solutions using our next-gen cloud-based web IDE and the entire Renesas product portfolio. Our globally diverse team excels in areas such as microcontrollers, microprocessors, connectivity, memory, analog, power, and beyond. Our cloud-based platform provides comprehensive solutions, from conceptual block diagrams to fully realized proof of concept designs, tailored to varying customer needs.
We are seeking motivated and skilled Embedded Engineers to elevate our solutions. As a key team member, you will architect and define firmware and software solutions that span a broad spectrum of devices and applications. You will bring silicon on PCBs to life, infusing them with innovative features and capabilities. Your vision ensures that comprehensive solutions encompass firmware, mobile applications, cloud services like AI and ML, while keeping pace with evolving programming paradigms. In the SW&D organization, you will address technical challenges from both solution and device levels, emphasizing exceptional software experiences that begin with out-of-the-box usability.
You will drive the development of next-generation methodologies for developers interacting with silicon devices, leveraging both existing and emerging technologies to enhance customer experiences. The SW&D team is committed to improving customer satisfaction, beginning with software usability and functionality.
Qualifications:
- B.S. degree (M.S. preferred) in Electrical/Electronics/Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
- Broad understanding of embedded microcontroller and microprocessing, including Arm Cortex-A, Cortex-M, RX, RL78, MIPS, RISC-V.
- 7+ years of experience in system software development and architecture.
- Proficiency in C/C++, with strong foundational knowledge of programming methodologies.
- Background in Software Algorithms, Data Structures, Optimization, Parallel Computing, Design Patterns, and Software Quality.
- Preferred experience with VLSI design, algorithms, and design flows.
- Proficiency in Python for scripting and automation.
- Debugging skills using gdb, ASAN, Coverity, and performance analyzers.
- Experience with agile CI/CD workflows, project maintenance in JIRA, GitHub, and Jenkins.
- Strong interpersonal skills for articulating complex software topics and influencing engineering decisions.
- Well-organized with meticulous attention to detail, accuracy, and target audience.
- Creative problem-solving skills for concurrent engineering and business challenges.
