Role Overview: Staff Backend Engineer, ML Infrastructure

Our CMG ML Infrastructure team builds the platforms, services, and tools essential for empowering engineers throughout the entire ML engineering lifecycle. We are pivotal for our Ads business, enhancing Ads relevance and foundational infrastructure capabilities.

We seek a talented Staff Backend Engineer, ML Infrastructure to construct our CMG ML infrastructure from the ground up.

What You Will Do

• Develop platforms, services, and tools for ML engineering lifecycle management.
• Collaborate with ML engineers to optimize ML workflows and enhance developer experience and efficiency.
• Enhance CMG Infrastructure to integrate ML seamlessly, focusing on engineering velocity, performance, and reliability.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent.
• 8+ years of experience with large, complex distributed systems.
• 4+ years of coding experience in C++, Java, or Python.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with large-scale ML infrastructure.
• Extensive experience in designing complex backend systems.
• Capability to challenge norms to enhance systems and processes.

Compensation & Benefits

Our compensation reflects the labor costs across various US markets. At Coupang, your base pay is just a part of your total compensation package.

The base pay for this position ranges from $142,000/year in our lowest geographic market to $309,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay varies based on market location and factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
