Job Description

The Business Intelligence team at Cash App enables our teams to make significant business decisions. BI Engineers handle everything from data architecture and modelling to data pipeline tooling and dashboarding. As a Staff BI Engineer at Cash App, you will report to the BI Manager and collaborate with Analysts, Data Scientists, Software Engineers and Product Managers to create a basis for analyzing our large, unique dataset. We are a highly data-driven team—from understanding our customers, managing and operating our business, to guiding product development. You will develop, curate, document, and manage key datasets and s to amplify the power of the entire team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Creating new and optimizing existing data models for the Customer Support Organization at Cash App.
  • Building reusable frameworks to enhance the reliability and scalability of our ETLs.
  • Encouraging others to self-serve by developing tools that simplify and speed up their ability to do so.
  • Mentoring and coaching team members to refine their designs and solutions.
  • Experience with Snowflake, Redshift, PostgreSQL and/or other DBMS platforms.
  • Promoting best practices for data, analytics, and data model design.
  • Working to influence the larger customer support organization to create an extraordinary data environment.

Qualifications

You possess:

  • Background/knowledge in Computer Science, Applied Math, Engineering, Statistics, Physics, or a comparable field.

  • A minimum of 7 years of industry experience in building complex, scalable ETLs for a variety of different business and product cases.

  • At least 3 years of experience in ETL orchestration and workflow management tools like Airflow, Prefect.

  • An interest in advancing Cash App's vision of building products for economic empowerment—something that genuinely excites you.

  • You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, are self-driven, and self-organized.

We use and teach the following technologies:

  • SQL (Snowflake, BigQuery, etc.)

  • Airflow, Looker and Tableau

  • Python / Java

Additional Information

Block employs a market-based approach to pay, and payment may vary based on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges can be changed in the future.

Zone A: USD $180,000 - USD $225,000
Zone B: USD $180,000 - USD $225,000
Zone C: USD $180,000 - USD $225,000
Zone D: USD $180,000 - USD $225,000
