Job Overview

The Pricing team, a cornerstone of Coupang's business, is responsible for pricing every product sold on Coupang. As a Staff Data Engineer in the Pricing Engineering org, you will build and maintain our data and analytics infrastructure, providing key insights to drive business decisions. Your work will impact tens of millions of users every day.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build large-scale data processing systems and infrastructure for Pricing systems.
• Design and maintain data pipelines, ensuring data accuracy and timely delivery.
• Understand Pricing business logic to translate it into efficient data processing models.
• Contribute to the development of our next-generation data processing platform.
• Ensure high-quality data serving to internal customers within Coupang.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience with fundamental algorithms, system design, and large-scale distributed systems.
• 5+ years of coding experience in Python, Hive, Presto, Spark, Airflow, or EMR and the ability to write complex SQL queries.
• Self-starter with a passion for solving complex problems.
• Proven track record of delivering results and taking ownership.
• Effective communicator with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience working in multi-cultural, cross-functional teams.
• Experience building highly scalable systems in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience handling large data volumes in a distributed environment.
• A passion for exploring, automating, and optimizing distributed systems.
• Ability to think creatively and challenge conventional wisdom.
• Experience with e-commerce technologies and pricing systems.
• Experience working with AWS (Amazon Web Services).
• Understanding of Operational Excellence for running and monitoring highly available systems.
• Experience collaborating with teams working on upstream and downstream dependencies.
• Strong team-oriented mindset, ensuring code quality and mentorship.
• Ability to challenge and improve existing systems and processes professionally and respectfully.

Pay & Benefits

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $138,000/year to $297,000/year, depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Your total compensation includes multiple components:
