Job Description

The Financial Crimes Technology team at Cash App plays a crucial role in detecting and reporting illegal and suspicious activities. We collaborate globally with Product, Counsel, and Engineering teams to maintain a safe user experience while minimizing fraudulent activities on our platform. Leveraging Generative AI and Machine Learning, we monitor hundreds of billions of dollars in transactions across traditional and blockchain networks.

Our advanced machine learning systems identify and surface anomalies like money laundering and terms of service violations for agent review, and block payments in real time. We're also using generative AI to enhance agent workflows, boosting productivity and decision accuracy. This Staff ML Engineer role offers a significant opportunity to rethink and optimize our Financial Crimes Operations at scale.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and integrate batch inference services and tooling for LLM Copilot and Autopilot use cases.
• Support infrastructure and tooling needs for modelers, addressing MLOps, data access, security, and scalability.
• Develop prototypes and encourage the adoption of new tools and technologies.
• Lead by example, applying AI/ML and engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with Financial Crimes, AI/ML Platform, and Product Engineering teams across Cash App and Block.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of combined Machine Learning and Engineering experience (full stack ML experience preferred).
• Master’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Operations Research, Applied Math, Stats, Physics, or related field.
• Proficiency with Linux/OS X command line, version control software (git), and ML software development lifecycle.
• Experience in prioritizing, scoping, designing, and deploying ML models with cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with Python computing stack, MySQL, Snowflake, Airflow, and Java/Go.
• Experience with hosted models for inference on public clouds like GCP, AWS, and/or building microservices for event-based triggering, feature generation, and model inference.
