About the Role: Staff Software Engineer, Data Infrastructure

Our Data Infrastructure team is on the lookout for a Staff Software Engineer who is enthusiastic about addressing large-scale batch and streaming data challenges. Reddit's mission is to foster community and belonging globally. Here, users can delve into their interests, hobbies, and passions through daily interactions in more than 100,000 communities. From pets to parenting, skincare to stocks, Reddit has a community for everyone.

The Data Infrastructure team manages over 100 billion analytics events daily, ingesting these into a data warehouse that handles 55,000+ queries daily. This data fuels both batch and streaming data applications within the company. The team also oversees our Streaming Platform, built using Flink.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with your team and partner teams like Machine Learning and Ads to develop scalable, fault-tolerant systems.
  • Formulate and implement strategies to ensure high-quality, end-to-end data processes and foster data culture at Reddit.
  • Maintain and enhance our data infrastructure technologies to support real-time analysis for millions of users.
  • Oversee the data pipeline that processes 100B+ daily events and enhance the tools for ingestion, storage, and data quality.
  • Mentor other engineers on designing, building, and advocating for services used by hundreds across Reddit.

Your Qualifications

  • 7+ years of production coding experience, delivering clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration with engineering, data science, machine learning, and product stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with object-oriented programming languages such as Scala, Python, Go, or Java.
  • Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Experience with tools and technologies like Terraform, Helm, Flink, Airflow, Prometheus, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD.

In addition to a base salary, this position is eligible to receive equity in the form of restricted stock units and possibly a commission, depending on the role offered.
