Simulation Team at Cruise

Our is dedicated to building virtual environments that ensure the safety, comfort, and efficiency of our autonomous vehicles. By efficiently simulating and testing our software across billions of miles, our products significantly accelerate AV development, testing, and deployment.

Position: Staff Software Technical Lead Manager, Simulation

As a Staff Software TLM on the Simulation team, you will lead a team of elite software engineers to solve mission-critical testing and evaluation problems. This role involves developing automated simulation test pipelines for model training and performance evaluation, enhancing engineering development speed across Cruise.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of exceptional software engineers to develop automated test tools and pipelines for simulation.
  • Drive strategic decisions on simulation tooling architecture and delivery of large-scale software solutions.
  • Foster product vision and execution from ideation to production.
  • Mentor and develop top-tier software engineers in a dynamic, inclusive setting.
  • Collaborate across multiple teams for impactful simulation software solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of relevant industry experience, including 3+ years of leading software engineers.
  • Strong programming skills in Python.
  • Experience in building scalable developer productivity tools.
  • Passion for creating tools, frameworks, and libraries that simplify complex workflows.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with C++.
  • SQL programming skills.
  • Experience scaling product adoption.
  • Familiarity with dashboarding systems like Looker, Tableau, or Kibana.
  • Experience with verification and validation of safety-critical systems.

The salary range for this position is $171,400 - $252,000, varying based on location, knowledge, skills, and experience. Additional benefits include bonuses, long-term incentives, and comprehensive health coverage.
