Responsibilities

As a Statistics and Data Analysis Associate, you will play a crucial role in supporting UNHCR’s Data Transformation Strategy 2020-2025. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting statistical and data analysis activities for evidence-informed planning, advocacy, and coordination.
  • Providing technical support for data collection, processing, analysis, and dissemination.
  • Ensuring statistical and analytical products meet required standards and are compliant with relevant policies.
  • Compiling, consolidating, validating, and disseminating official statistics on populations of concern to UNHCR.
  • Contributing to development or improvement of statistical methods and quantitative models for analysis and projections on forced displacement and statelessness.
  • Advising on appropriate methods and tools for statistical and data analysis activities.
  • Participating in meetings, workshops, and training sessions as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should have the following qualifications and experience:

  • 3 years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma, or 2 years with a Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Certificates and/or licenses in Social Sciences, Statistics, Demography, Geography/GIS, Epidemiology, Economics, Data Management, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in data management activities, including surveys, secondary data reviews, and data visualization.
  • Experience with national and/or international statistical systems.
  • Strong quantitative background in statistics and economics.
  • Proficiency in R software; Python knowledge is an asset.
  • Excellent knowledge of English; knowledge of Armenian is desirable.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional qualifications and experience that are highly desirable for this role include:

  • Experience in a data analysis role within developmental or humanitarian contexts.
  • Familiarity with international protection principles and UNHCR policies.
  • Experience working with government statistical agencies and partners.
  • A solid understanding of forced displacement-related issues.

Language Requirements
