The Wireless Communications and Networks department at the Fraunhofer Institute for Telecommunications, Heinrich Hertz Institute, is committed to advancing wireless communication systems, focusing on future mobile communications such as 5G+ and 6G. Our Smart Wireless Connectivity (SWC) team engages in international research projects, designing communication methods and signal processing algorithms for cutting-edge wireless technologies. We are seeking motivated individuals to support our research on 5G/6G-based communication technologies in robotics. Join us in a journey of research and innovation!

What You Will Do

  • Design, simulate, and implement software for modern robotics systems (e.g., Boston Dynamics Spot, KUKA).
  • Develop innovative applications.
  • Create API solutions and develop codes to control hardware components.
  • Design and implement real-time software systems, enabling responsive functionality in complex robotics.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Full-time studies with excellent grades at a German university or college in electrical engineering, communications engineering, information technology, (medical) informatics, applied mathematics, physics, or related fields.
  • Strong interest in designing and implementing software for robotic systems.
  • Fundamental knowledge of computer science, including algorithms, data structures, and object-oriented design in UNIX environments.
  • Experience with microservices architecture, design, and implementation of RESTful APIs.
  • Proficiency in Java, Python, HTML, ROS, or comparable languages.
  • Basic understanding of machine learning concepts.
  • Excellent communication skills and a willingness to work in an interdisciplinary environment.

This position is initially limited to one year, with the potential for extension. The monthly working time is 80 hours and is also available on a part-time basis.
