Join Trafigura's Digital Transformation as a System Architect for Document AI

Main Purpose:

Trafigura is at the forefront of a transformative journey, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to revolutionize Commodities Trading. Our Digital Transformation initiative is spearheaded by innovative teams, and the Document AI team plays a pivotal role in this mission. This team is dedicated to harnessing the power of data-rich proprietary documents to drive process optimization and groundbreaking data science applications. We are on the lookout for a seasoned System Architect to co-own and realize the technical vision for our Document AI platform. In collaboration with our Document AI Lead, you will help create an industry-leading platform that enhances workflows and democratizes data for both business and technical stakeholders.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• 3+ years of experience in developing AI systems
• 7+ years of experience in advanced analytic workflows within an enterprise environment
• Expertise in microservices and event-driven architecture
• Familiarity with MLOps and related tools (e.g., MLFlow, Bedrock, Docker)
• Proficiency in trustworthy systems development including security, identity management, reliability, observability, and testing
• Experience with databases (SQL, NoSQL) and data engineering (e.g., Airflow)
• Knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)

Key Responsibilities

• Influence the design, development, and operations of the Document AI platform
• Ensure compatibility with Trafigura's broader technology ecosystem and align with key stakeholders
• Lead architectural discussions, including build vs. buy decisions
• Develop design rules and guidelines, enhancing consistency through code reviews
• Prototype and implement new technologies to enhance the Document AI platform
• Engage with industry partners to explore alternative solutions and drive innovations
• Contribute to the engineering culture through mentorship and advocacy of robust engineering practices

Example Projects (First 6 Months)

• Implement LLM serving framework to enhance model throughput
• Deploy event-driven processing for real-time information and optimized cloud spending
• Implement search capabilities for proprietary document stores

Key Relationships and Department Overview

Key Relationships:

You will collaborate closely with the Digital Transformation Team to ensure the Document AI platform continually meets evolving business requirements. Direct interaction with Business users across front, middle, and back offices will be crucial in gaining their trust and addressing their needs. Additionally, you will act as a Centre of Excellence, supporting the Data Science & Engineering teams through knowledge sharing and tooling. Close collaboration with IT will also ensure compatibility within the broader technology ecosystem.
