Leidos is on the hunt for a charismatic and innovative Systems Engineering Manager with a passion for shaping the future of transportation. Our ideal candidate will have extensive experience in advanced transportation technologies such as V2X, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAV), and transportation communications.

About the Role

This influential role offers the opportunity to lead the co-development of emerging transportation technologies with industry by spearheading outreach, support, and technology transfer initiatives. As part of our team, you'll be deeply involved in improving transportation safety, mobility, and environmental impacts through pioneering projects at the FHWA’s Saxton Transportation Operations Laboratory (STOL).

Responsibilities

Systems Engineering Leadership

  • Manage Systems Engineering resources and oversee concepts of operations and system requirements.
  • Lead DevOps teams to handle system builds, version control, and configuration management.
  • Improve scrum processes and technical workflows.
  • Oversee detailed designs, integration and testing, and system verification and validation.

Quality Assurance and Quality Control

  • Lead test engineering teams and develop strategies to enhance R&D testing processes.
  • Manage data scientists and engineers to strategize and implement data storage and accessibility solutions.
  • Direct the collection and visualization of program data for effective decision-making and policy formulation.
  • Design and build data solutions, including resource and financial planning input and dashboards.
  • Maintain SharePoint organization for internal and external program use.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, computer science, engineering, or related field with 8+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies, including resource planning and Earned Value Management - Lite.
  • Experience with Agile projects and tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
  • Deep understanding of systems engineering and DevOps practices.
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to manage and mentor teams effectively.
  • Capability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.

Desirable:

  • Strong interest in continuous process improvement.
  • Leadership experience in R&D testing methodologies.
  • Familiarity with tools like Power Query, Power BI, Power Apps, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Excel in Office 365 and Microsoft online.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a dynamic team environment.
  • Previous experience in proposal creation and the intelligent transportation systems domain.
  • Knowledge of testing ITS, V2X, and control systems.

Salary and Application Details

Expected Salary Range: $125,000 - $150,000

Pay Range: $101,400.00 - $183,300.00
