Role: Test Equipment Engineer, Data Integration

The Test Infrastructure team at Form Energy is looking for a skilled Test Equipment Engineer dedicated to software, data acquisition, analysis, and data visualization for our test stands. This is an exciting opportunity to design and deploy equipment for R&D and full-scale testing of our iron-air batteries. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions for accurate, efficient, and automated testing methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement test equipment focusing on software and data tools tailored for battery testing in energy storage systems (ESS).
  • Maintain data integrity and develop data visualization tools for automated test systems.
  • Write test software to deliver rapid updates, meeting test infrastructure goals.
  • Oversee data collection, output, and quality from the test lab.
  • Identify and execute software, electrical, and mechanical improvement projects, utilizing metrics to visualize results.
  • Support fabrication and prototyping of test equipment, collaborating with internal and external teams.
  • Provide technical support, maintenance, and troubleshooting for test equipment and software.
  • Collaborate on designing and developing custom liquid-handling, electromechanical, and electrical systems to enhance test stand performance.

Required Qualifications

  • BS degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Proficiency in managing and analyzing data using Python for data-driven design improvements.
  • Experience in software design for control and automation of test hardware, including release management.
  • Familiarity with hardware automated control systems (PLCs, Microcontrollers, etc.).
  • Experience in designing reliable, robust equipment for medium- to high-volume manufacturing/production environments.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation and data acquisition systems for monitoring and controlling fluid processes in testing environments.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
