About the Role

The Data and Analytics Lead is responsible for performing advanced statistical and business analyses to deliver data-driven recommendations that enhance our program's efficiency and effectiveness. You will oversee data collection protocols, establish business performance indicators, and utilize market intelligence and customer data to develop analytical tools and reports. Success in this role involves the creation and implementation of comprehensive analytical solutions that provide critical insights for decision-making, operational improvements, and future business strategies.

You will manage a small team of regional data analysts, collaborate with various teams, and report to the Head of Product Innovations. This hybrid role offers flexibility, with work conducted between the field, regional offices, and remotely.

Responsibilities

Program Data Management, Analytics & Business Intelligence

  • Develop and implement a data strategy to support decision-making across organizational departments.
  • Design and standardize data collection tools and manage their implementation across teams and regions.
  • Create and maintain performance dashboards to present a single source of truth across programs and regions.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Product Innovations to monitor cross-program performance, communicate insights, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Analyze program data from multiple sources to prepare materials for management decisions.
  • Develop tools to assess team efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Integrate seasonal farmer data with end-of-season evaluation metrics to provide a comprehensive understanding of program impact.
  • Ensure data availability, integrity, accuracy, and reliability.
  • Work with the Global Data Team to validate predictive models and other performance tools.

Innovations, R&D & Trial Management

  • Manage data collection and analysis for innovations and trials, coordinating with program teams and stakeholders.

Team Management & Data Skills Development

  • Recruit, lead, and mentor a team of data analysts across functions.
  • Enhance data management and analytical skills within regional teams, focusing on survey design, data handling, and analysis skills.

Field Presence & Support

  • Conduct regular field visits to understand the operational context, incoming data, and identify emerging challenges.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Data Analytics, Applied Mathematics, Quantitative Economics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a strategic or analytical role.
  • Strong proficiency in statistics and analytical tools such as R, Advanced Excel, CommCare, and other data analysis and visualization tools. Experience with SQL, Dataiku, Superset, and PowerBi is a plus.
  • Excellent critical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative data into actionable strategies.
  • Strong communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven experience in managing and developing a team.
  • Ability to handle multiple strategic projects and priorities, working effectively across teams to influence and execute strategies swiftly.
