About the Role

As a Software Engineer III, you will be central to enhancing our search processes, ensuring users can seamlessly find what they need across Walmart’s websites and mobile apps. You will delve into big data problems, leveraging advanced relevance algorithms and machine learning techniques to deliver a high-availability, low-latency service. Your work will directly influence key business metrics and the customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Design, implement, and test complex code changes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address business needs.
• Handle critical software/system monitoring issues independently.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and ethical standards.
• Lead project management for small to large-scale projects.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues efficiently.

Qualifications

Minimum

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field and 2 years’ experience in software engineering, or
• 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Preferred

• 1 year of experience designing technical solutions for retail business changes.
• 2 years’ experience leading and implementing tech projects.
• Knowledge of Java/JEE, Spring framework, and open-source search engines like Solr, Lucene, or Elasticsearch.
• Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Shell.
• Experience with IDE development tools (e.g., Eclipse) and Source Code Management Tools (e.g., GitHub).
• Familiarity with optimizing and testing code using standard tools.
• Ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, fluid environment.
• Understanding of web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2 AA).
