Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated salary range for this role is between $117,000.00 and $159,000.00. The final offer will depend on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and market conditions at the time of hire. Additional benefits include an annual discretionary incentive award and a competitive benefits package.

Role Description

To support SMBC Americas' business growth strategy, SMBC Finance is undertaking a significant initiative to review and enhance critical finance processes within its US operations. The Vice President, Finance Change - Data Strategy and Management, will lead the execution and management of finance data strategy and data management initiatives. This role involves collaborating with senior stakeholders across Finance, Risk, Technology, and the Chief Data Office, and guiding junior staff.

Role Objectives

  • Lead business fit for purpose and consumption analysis for accuracy and completeness, including end-user testing with Finance teams.
  • Identify data gaps from a finance perspective and collaborate with technology and key stakeholders to find solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and solve complex business data issues with various stakeholders.
  • Understand data flows and attributes to facilitate partnerships between finance and technology.
  • Engage with Finance SMEs, Chief Data Office, IT, and other stakeholders to deploy data controls and governance frameworks.
  • Lead all phases of finance data management and governance, including identification of critical data elements.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote collaboration and thoughtfulness.
  • Support other finance transformation programs under the Finance Change team.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 4-7 years' experience in technology, data office, data management, change management, or finance at a financial services firm.
  • Experience as a lead business analyst with knowledge of financial operations, planning, risk management, IT processes, and data management.
  • Experience with data projects involving data management concepts such as data architecture, data models, and data quality.
  • Ability to think strategically, execute tactically, and solve problems in ambiguous environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and be flexible in fast-paced environments.
