Key Responsibilities
As the Vice President / Global Head of Oncology Data Science, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Driving high-caliber, interdisciplinary research grounded in computational biology, focusing on early biology/target discovery, drug discovery, biomarker discovery, and translational investigation.
- Interfacing with all stages of drug discovery, providing insights into target discovery, mechanism of action, biomarker discovery, back translation, and clinical trial support and analysis.
- Leading and collaborating with the global Oncology organization while implementing a vision for Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML).
- Serving as a member of the Oncology Disease Area leadership team and contributing to scientific strategy and mission.
- Representing oncology on the Biomedical Research Computational Science Council (CSC).
- Building, implementing, and managing AI/ML related programs with Oncology target and drug discovery project teams and platforms.
- Leading, developing, and inspiring a global team of Oncology Data Science Experts based in Basel, Cambridge, and San Diego.
- Identifying and evaluating external opportunities for strategic AI collaborations and leading resulting cross-functional, global collaborations.
- Acting as a mentor to Data Science and AI/ML experts.
Salary and Benefits
The expected pay range for this position at the commencement of employment is between $313,600 and $470,400 per year. Final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Total compensation may also include a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave.
Essential Requirements
- Location: Cambridge, MA; no remote option available. Position requires 10-15% travel (domestic/international).
- Minimum of a University Degree with a PhD or MD equivalent in computer science, data science, biology, chemistry, or medicine.
- Extensive people management experience.
- Deep understanding of oncology, specifically in early biology/target discovery, drug discovery, biomarker discovery, and translational investigation.
- Experience in establishing and executing an organizationally-aligned strategy for data management and scientific priorities.
- Proven track record in achieving scientific business outcomes and leading high-performing diverse teams in matrix organizations.
- Solid record of influential, peer-reviewed publications.
- Strong strategic thinking, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
