  • Advanced understanding of digital signal processing, information theory, and their applications in video compression.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and shell.
  • Strong coding skills in C/C++.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing innovative algorithms for video encoding.
  • Proven track record of scientific publications or invention disclosures.

Role Responsibilities:

As a Video Codec Research Engineer at Apple, you will:

  • Develop hardware-friendly algorithms for future video codec standardizations.
  • Lead efforts in the definition and standardization of next-generation compression technologies.
  • Collaborate with codec architects and hardware design teams to streamline video coding tools.
  • Create novel video encoder algorithms optimized for various hardware implementations.

Education & Experience:

Required: A Bachelor’s degree with 20+ years of relevant experience. Preferred: MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.

Pay & Benefits:

Apple offers a competitive compensation package with a salary range for this role from $199,800.00 to $300,200.00, depending on your skillset and experience.
