Job Description

As a Machine Learning Engineer for Coupang Play, you will work with an ever-growing content catalog, including VOD videos, live broadcasts, and TVOD (transactional video-on-demand) content. Your responsibilities include mining extensive playback data to understand OTT subscriber behavior and creating data jobs to enable machine learning functions. You will build, train, and enhance new or existing models. Utilizing all available data sources, machine learning tools, and other technical platforms, you’ll contribute to building frameworks for content recommendation and personalization.

Your role also involves using computer vision, audition, language modeling, and generative AI technologies to automate media processing workflows, such as subtitle creation, synopsis generation, and artwork creation. Collaborating closely with the PE team, you will help develop recommendation and personalization systems and media processing workflows.

Key Responsibilities

- Identify opportunities and improvements within content recommendation and personalization systems. - Develop models for tasks like artwork creation, subtitle writing, and synopsis generation to accelerate media processing workflows. - Create and align data requirements with relevant engineering and operational teams for data collection establishment and validation. - Develop necessary features for models using collected data and train relevant models using scientific tools and coding. - Integrate model inference results into the production system. - Set up testing conditions, including A/B testing, during the production phase and analyze results to gather insights on the models.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or related fields. - Over 3 years of experience in machine learning product development. - Proficiency with machine learning/deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch or TensorFlow). - Significant experience in statistics, particularly Experimentation and Modeling. - Exceptional product sense, self-driven with the ability to lead research projects. - Excellent communication skills to share methodologies and results with various stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

- Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or related fields. - Experience building recommendation and personalization systems. - Skills in computer vision, computer audition, and language modeling. - Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms. - Software engineering experience and collaboration with Product Engineering teams. - Proficiency in verbal and written communication in English.
