Job Description

We are seeking a Data Architect to build our data infrastructure and spearhead data operations for a new product at Curinos. We aim to transform our best-in-class data assets into customer-specific insights, allowing financial institutions to provide personalized customer experiences resulting in increased Customer Lifetime Value. As an integral member of the Data Fabric team, you will be crucial in realizing this vision for our clients.

Your duties will encompass building and maintaining production data pipelines, including orchestration, transformation, and auditing. Sources will encompass raw data from third-party sources, outputs from other internal applications/ETL processes, while destinations will include an internal lakehouse as well as downstream applications and machine learning models.

You will also be tasked with overseeing the design and construction of our new internal data lakehouse. This includes handling data integration, storage, organization, governance, cataloging, and security. This will be achieved by integrating external vendors and strengthening internal capabilities.

In this role, you will be working closely with partner engineering and product teams to ensure the outputs of data pipelines are accessible and ingestible by downstream applications and machine learning models. As part of this, you will ensure the movement of sensitive data adheres to MDM best practices in collaboration with DevSecOps and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering or related roles
  • Experience in creating and maintaining data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes
  • Familiarity with big data stacks and technologies such as Spark and Hadoop
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure like AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Knowledge of data governance principles
  • Previous experience with Databricks is a plus
  • Prior experience in an architect role is preferred
  • Degree in Computer Science, a related quantitative field, or equivalent work experience
  • Required programming languages: Scala or Java and SQL. Working knowledge of Spark and Python is highly desirable
  • Background in FinTech, finance, or banking is beneficial
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A team player capable of thriving in an intellectually stimulating environment

This is a hybrid role. Ideally, the successful candidate will be located near our regional hub in Toronto and can travel to our office for work sessions or team meetings when necessary.
