Why we're hiring:

As a Data Engineer in the WPP Enterprise Data Group, you will be tasked with designing and implementing scalable data solutions that offer enterprise-scale data transformation across a wide array of projects.

Your role will concentrate on delivering solutions that utilize large scale data ingestion, processing, storage/querying, streaming & batch analytics. As part of a team, you will execute solutions designed by our data architects, handling estimation, design, coding, testing, deployment, and ensuring scalability and performance on Azure through the use of the latest frameworks and platforms.

Joining as an experienced technologist with an extensive background in data engineering, you’ll be part of a group of Data Engineers who are enthusiastic about creating the finest solutions for our business, endorsing a culture committed to learning and collaboration throughout life.

What you'll be doing:

  • Designing, constructing, testing, and maintaining data pipelines (ETL), according to the specified business and technical requirements.
  • Implementing secure platforms with a focus on data governance.
  • Playing a pivotal role in automation and developing industry-leading solutions following architectural best practices.
  • Proposing technical designs and developing integrations.
  • Overseeing data migrations between legacy & modern platforms
  • Designing & implementing data warehousing solutions and key data engineering workstreams for any required solution.
  • Supporting cross-functional teams across the data space.

What you'll need:

The minimum requirements for this role include:

  • Overrides 3+ years of experience designing and building scalable distributed data pipelines and dimensional data models
  • 3+ years of experience in Python and
  • Experience using Databricks
  • Experience with Azure Data Warehousing (Synapse)
  • Extensive use of Microsoft Azure data services – Data Factory, ADLS gen2, Event Hubs, Azure SQL, Azure Key Vault
  • Ideally, experience with – Kafka, Delta Lake, , Pandas, Airflow
  • A clear understanding of Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) and Agile practices, unit & integration tests, and development practices using Azure DevOps.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Exposure to data science / ML is a plus.
