About Us: We are on a mission to enable every individual, team, and company to customize their software to solve any problem and tackle any challenge. Despite computers being our most powerful tools, most of us cannot build or alter the software we use every day. At Notion, we aim to alter this status quo through focus, design, and craft. Since 2016, we've been striving towards this goal together, serving customers like Pixar, Mitsubishi, Figma, Plaid, Match Group, and many more who have embarked on this journey with us. Today, we're expanding rapidly and look forward to welcoming new team members who excel in their fields. We are passionate about creating a company as diverse and creative as the millions of people Notion reaches globally. Notion is an in-person company and currently requires its employees to come to the office for two Anchor Days (Mondays & Thursdays) and asks that employees spend the majority of their week in the office, including a third day. About The Role: Notion’s mission is to make toolmaking universal. We're expanding our business rapidly to empower each person to create their own tools, block by block. The Growth Data Science team works to speed up product growth at every step of the user journey, ensuring maximum value from Notion. This role will collaborate closely with the Template and Creator Community team to boost template creator growth and user adoption of templates by enhancing the Notion template gallery. As an early member of the growth data science team, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the roadmap for how these teams work together, then doing the hands-on work to implement it. Tasks may vary significantly day to day, but whether you're investigating where we see the most significant opportunity to enhance user experience, defining the features of a successful Notion account, developing a core activity dataset, or running tests to assess the success of a major feature launch, you'll sizablely influence the evolution of Notion. What You'll Achieve: - You will utilize your expertise in statistical inference, data mining, and data presentation to understand how our users interact with Notion beyond just the numbers - You will delve into ambiguous areas, pinpoint problems and opportunities for the team to work on the next influential project - You'll design appropriate experiments or analyses to evaluate the effectiveness of new features - You'll work closely with a product, engineering, and marketing chapter at each phase of the development process, propelling data science and analytics work in that domain - You'll collaborate with your teams to establish both long-term and operational metrics, and create and maintain the dashboards these teams rely on for progress monitoring and critical decision-making - You'll influence your product roadmap by conveying your discoveries to the rest of the company, driving and verifying change in our product and business (Insights are useful, impact is better!) Skills You'll Need to Bring: - Ideally, you have experience working on ranking, two-sided marketplaces, or creator monetization in previous roles - You have significant experience as a data scientist working with product, engineering, and ideally growth teams. You can leverage this experience to identify where data can make the most impact and clearly communicate that impact to your partner teams - You are proficient in SQL and at least one scripting language (preferably Python or R) - You know how to use statistical inference and experimentation to make actionable recommendations - You have experience building predictive models, and you know how to assess their effectiveness - You are comfortable transforming raw data to create your own datasets if the required measure does not exist yet We hire talented and passionate individuals from diverse backgrounds because we want our global employee base to reflect the broad diversity of our customers. If you're excited about a role but your past experience doesn't perfectly align with every point listed in the job description, we still encourage you to apply. If you are a builder at heart, align with our company values, and are passionate about making software toolmaking ubiquitous, we want to hear from you.
