Data Scientists take on a myriad of challenges, from shaping crucial business decisions to building algorithms that fuel our internal and external products. As a Data Scientist on the Driver's team, you will utilize data and apply analytical thinking to influence our driver app and make business decisions that prioritize our customers. You will identify opportunities for improvement, suggest and apply technical solutions, design experiments, and assess the impact of your team's choices. Alongside product, engineering, design, and other stakeholders, you will collaborate on delivering products from inception to completion. Your collaborations will also extend to teams outside of Driver to balance the different needs of drivers, riders, and the marketplace. We are in search of well-rounded, passionate, driven Data Scientists to tackle some of the most intriguing and influential issues in the ridesharing industry. Responsibilities: - Utilize data to gain insights into driver behavior and sentiment and identify areas for improvement - Apply analytics, inference, and experimentation techniques to solve business problems - Design and analyze experiments; convey results to technical and non-technical audiences to influence launch decisions - Establish metrics that assess the health of our driver products and driver experience - Develop analytical frameworks and dashboards to monitor business and product performance - Partner with product managers, engineers, and operators to translate analytical insights into decisions and actions, and implement products to achieve business goals - Design and execute data pipelines to support data analysis and product implementation Experience and skills: - 3+ years of experience in a data science or analytics role - B.S. in economics, applied math, statistics, engineering, or other quantitative fields, M.S. preferred - Proficiency in SQL with the ability to write structured and efficient queries on large data sets - Experience in programming, especially with data science and visualization libraries in Python or R - Experience in designing and analyzing A/B experiments, and conveying results and recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders - Demonstrated data analysis and problem-solving skills - Strong oral and written communication skills - Ability to build relationships and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to achieve shared outcomes - Experience working with ETL pipelines is a plus Benefits: - Excellent medical, dental, and vision insurance options - Mental health benefits - In addition to 12 observed holidays, salaried team members have unlimited paid time off, hourly team members have 15 days paid time off - 401(k) plan to help save for your future - 18 weeks of paid parental leave. From September 2023, this role will operate on a hybrid schedule working in the office three days per week on Mondays, Thursdays, and a team-specific third day. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year. The expected salary range for this position in the San Francisco area is $139,000 - $155,000. Salary ranges depend on various factors, including qualifications, experience, and geographic location. This range does not include potential equity offering, bonus, or benefits.
