Snapshot
We're hiring Research Scientists to join our Robotics team. The team's goal is to create "Embodied AI" - a robot brain that translates language instructions into practical physical actions aiming at enhancing billions of people's lives.
About Us
We believe artificial intelligence could be one of the most beneficial inventions. At Google DeepMind, we're collectively working towards advancing artificial intelligence. Our technologies offer public benefits and scientific discoveries. We cooperate with others on crucial challenges, prioritizing safety and ethics.
The Role
Our Research Scientists are responsible for creating innovative algorithms and architectures for developing artificial intelligence. Having made significant contributions in research at the world's top academic and industrial labs, they join Google DeepMind to work collaboration on solutions to essential questions about machine learning and AI.
You'll be part of a team passionate about advancing Robotic technology. You should be excited about creating "robot brains" - systems that will perform simple household tasks in human residence (e.g., folding laundry, chopping vegetables, doing dishes, etc.). Your contribution to our ambitious research projects will involve planning semantic tasks, understanding visual scenes, and creating safe and robust controllers for highly complicated manipulation tasks. You'll implement these innovative algorithms, deploy them on several robots, and work alongside an interdisciplinary team to achieve meaningful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, implement, and assess innovative algorithms on multiple robot depictions.
- Clearly and effectively report and present research findings and developments both internally and externally, verbally, and in writing.
- Participate in teamwork to accomplish ambitious research goals.
- Stay informed about current scientific literature and technical advancements.
About You
You're likely to succeed as a Research Scientist with us if you have:
- A PhD in Computer Science or Robotics; or similar practical experience.
- Experience with Deep Learning pipelines and training perception systems and/or Large Language or Vision Language Models.
- Experience working with simulators and actual robots.
The following qualifications would give you an edge:
- A research history in robotic manipulation and robot safety.
- A track record on one or more of the following areas: Generative Models, Robust Learning, Uncertainty Quantification, Mechanistic Interpretability, AI Alignment.
