Universal Pictures International (UPI) is the International Distribution and Marketing division for Universal Pictures. In countries like the United Kingdom, Austria, Spain, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, France, Russia, Korea, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Brazil, India, and China, UPI directly markets and distributes movies through its local offices, tailoring campaigns and release strategies to the culture and market behavior of these territories. The Strategic Planning & Analytics (SP&A) team holds a prominent position and regularly collaborates with top executives across UPI and the Universal Filmed Entertainment Group at headquarters (Los Angeles), regional, and territory levels. The team works jointly with other UPI business units on various strategic initiatives including: slate strategy, release planning, analytics, business development, systems & data, and box office reporting.
The Senior Analyst for Distribution Strategy & Analytics will be part of a team responsible for international box office reporting, analysis of competing titles, tracking industry trends, and managing UPI’s release planning. The position will be located in London and will report to the VP of Distribution Strategy & Analytics. It will play a crucial role supporting analytical activities throughout the international landscape, with additional attention to the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region. Moreover, this role will be the primary analytical resource for driving the strategy, development, and upkeep of the team’s analytical systems and data, as well as creating and managing UPI’s analytical tools used for decision-making related to release dating, competitive analysis, and theatrical distribution.
This role requires exceptional analytical and strategic skills. The applicant should be capable of interfacing effectively with various levels of management, ranging from senior executives to unit managers and third parties. The ideal candidate will also have a:
- Bachelor's Degree, preferably with an understanding of film and/or media market business models
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in research, analysis, or related analytical fields, preferably within the entertainment industry
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills, with the capability to process large data sets into cohesive insights
- Han
- High proficiency in SQL (e.g. Transact-SQL, ANSI, BigQuery) is desirable
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the capacity to create and present high-quality presentations
