Job Description

Visa's Cybersecurity Architecture & Product Engineering team is seeking interns to concentrate on the research and development of security analytics solutions. As a Research Scientist intern, you will collaborate with Visa's leading cybersecurity teams on upcoming security issues to deliver innovative security solutions and provide insights into Visa Cybersecurity's AI strategy. You will undertake research and development tasks with state-of-the-art security technologies, a large volume of real-world data, and numerous mission-critical security operations/engineering teams to build technologies that safeguard billions of transactions happening globally. You will also regularly present and demo the research solutions to various stakeholders.

This role presents an exciting chance to contribute significantly to Visa's strategic vision as the world's premier digital payments company. The successful applicant must have a robust academic track record in applied research. The candidate will be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, showing a keen interest in security technologies, and excellent collaboration abilities.

Job duties and projects may include:

Research and development of security solutions for:

• Threat modeling/analysis for AIaaS and other emerging AI service scenarios
• Account Take Over (ATO) protection
• Behavioral Biometrics
• Adversarial threats to AI services, and the corresponding prevention, detection, and defensive mechanisms for AI services
• AI-aided security incident triaging and response

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Students pursuing a Ph.D. with a graduation date in December 2024 or later in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, CIS/MIS, Cybersecurity, Business or a related field
• Strong communication skills, specifically without repeated grammatical or typographical errors, clear and concise written and verbal communications, and communications showing professional judgment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Authentic interest in cybersecurity and applied research
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong track record of research and/or engineering experience
• Research experience in one or more fields related to systems security, machine learning, and big data platforms
• Proficient skills in model implementation and data wrangling

• Highly motivated, resourceful and results-driven
• Proficient skills in model implementation and data wrangling.
• Hands-on experience and/or academic background translating problem statements into corresponding solution design, infrastructure, or workflow needs

Additional Information

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated range for a new hire into this position is $46/hr to $52/hr, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. Furthermore, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Travel Requirements:This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
