This Senior Research Engineer role is an exhilarating opportunity to contribute to our machine learning assisted tools as part of our AI Research team. The role involves merging academic research and commercial software development to produce groundbreaking technology for the visual-effects industry. The team works closely with clients in film visual-effects and transitions technology from concept to market. We are looking for candidates with an excellent understanding of machine learning for image processing, a strong background in algorithm development and research, and extensive commercial experience in C++ development. THE RESPONSIBILITIES. Develop new or existing IP into useful, high-quality features that meet product requirements. Develop and share core technical knowledge within your team. Mentor junior team members, promoting their technical development and team participation Contribute to the code base for image, video, and geometry processing. Implement and promote efficient, reliable code development processes and communication within the team. Serve as a go-to expert for the code-base and a role model to the team to ensure the development of high-quality, reusable, and low maintenance code. Create prototypes as proof-of-concept, alphas for feedback from key clients, betas to collect broader feedback, and deliver final tools in products. Requirements THE ESSENTIALS. Postgraduate Degree in Engineering / Computer Science (e.g. MSc, Ph.D. preferred, or equivalent experience) 3+ years of commercial C++ experience Experience with Python Excellent practical and theoretical knowledge of machine learning and its use in image processing Good knowledge of a machine learning framework (TensorFlow or PyTorch) Strong math skills THE NICE TO HAVE, KEEN TO LEARN. Knowledge of traditional computer vision algorithms and techniques Experience of cross OS development across Linux, Windows, and Mac. Experience leading using AGILE methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc) Knowledge of post-production THE COMPANY.
