Senior Software Engineer, Data Tools

Job expired!
Our Team Have you tackled problems with data? Have you helped others overcome issues with data? If you've spent some time translating data into actionable insights, you'll know that success depends on identifying and rectifying the issues with your data first, then linking the insights drawn from the data to business objectives. Achieving this in a timely, consistent way is challenging. It becomes even more difficult in a scenario where data access is largely democratized and users can manipulate and reassemble data in ways you may not have anticipated. Converting messy, often unstructured healthcare data into insights and actions that can enhance well-being and medical results on a large scale is so challenging that it has largely remained out of reach. Data Tools maintains a collection of tools that bring together, clean, and standardize member medical information, and convert that data into insights and metrics. Our tools enable Data Science, Analytics, and Product teams to generate personalized member suggestions, alert healthcare providers to potential undiagnosed health issues, and report on our capacity to deliver the highest quality medical outcomes in a cost-effective manner to our customers, among other things, while adhering to the highest data privacy and management standards. You'll focus on expanding our toolset to make data handling accessible for both data producers and consumers. Your projects might include integrating our common data model with open-source tools like Datahub and Querybook, developing a streaming event framework to allow data from our mobile apps to flow into the common data model, and implementing data validation concepts into our data ingestion and transformation tools. Required Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, and 5+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as (but not limited to) C#, C++, Java, Python, or Scala. - 3+ years of experience in building data ingestion and transformation pipelines using any of AWS Athena, Apache Flink, or Apache Spark. - Direct responsibility for the development, implementation, and production release of multiple data processing solutions, utilizing distributed systems. - Residency within the United States of America. Additional or Preferred Qualifications - Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, and 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as (but not limited to) C#, C++, Java, Python, or Scala. - 2+ years of experience developing production-grade frontend applications using React.js or AngularJS. - Technical leadership experience with an emphasis on architectures designed to interoperate with existing systems. - 1+ years experience as a mentor for junior developers. We would like to meet you if - You are known amongst current and former colleagues for consistently delivering impactful outcomes to your team and the business through high personal output. - You have demonstrated repeatedly your ability to solve complex business problems through detailed domain modeling. - You have delivered measurable business results because you prioritize engineering work based on expected business value and work closely with stakeholders to successfully navigate seemingly conflicting requirements. - You lead project execution by managing epics/stories/tasks, providing clarity to the business on delivery timing, and act as an owner of overall project success. - You quickly become productive in unfamiliar code bases and while working with new stakeholders. - You mentor engineers, enhancing their technical and non-technical skills to maximize their impact. - You thrive while working with colleagues from diverse backgrounds who are collaborative and strongly aligned with our company’s mission to elevate the quality of healthcare for all.
