Within the Ecosystem & Operational Risk group, the Payment Fraud Disruption team is tasked with creating crucial risk and fraud detection and prevention applications and services. This entails generating ideas, architecture, design, development, and testing of products, applications, and services, offering Visa clients solutions to detect, prevent, and mitigate fraud in Visa and its client’s payment systems.
This position is ideal for a seasoned data engineer who thrives on collaborating with business and technology partners to conquer complex fraud prevention problems. Your key role will be pushing the boundaries to define a shared strategic vision for the Ecosystem and Operational Risk platform, and devising tools and services that shield Visa's payment systems.
The suitable candidate for this role must possess a robust data engineering background, showcasing a proven track record of developing, training, and implementing scalable batch and real-time data processing systems for payment, risk, or fraud prevention products. You must demonstrate significant impacts within the payments or payment risk domains or related industries.

Essential Functions
As a Staff Data Engineer, you will help design, enhance, and build the next generation of fraud detection solutions in an agile development environment.
Translate business challenges into technical data problems while collaborating effectively with product stakeholders.
Drive end-to-end development efforts to deliver high-quality solutions on time. Solutions must meet requirements, match the architectural vision, and adhere to all relevant standards. Responsibilities span all aspects of solution development.
Collaborate with project team members (Product Managers, Architects, Analysts, Developers, Project Managers, etc.) to ensure the development and implementation of new data-driven business solutions.
Craft and maintain a robust data engineering process to develop and implement self-serve data and tools.
Perform additional tasks on data governance, system infrastructure, analytics tool evaluation, and other cross-team functions as needed.
Execute data engineering projects of varying scale either individually or as a part of a project team.
Ensure project delivery within timelines and meeting requirements.
Effectively communicate status, issues, and risks in a precise and timely manner.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees are expected to split work time between remote and office setups. They are typically on-site three days per week, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, spending about 50% of their time in the office based on business needs.

Essential Qualifications:
· 5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree, 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD), or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 8+ years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
· 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree, 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD), or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD.
· Experience in creating data-driven business solutions and resolving data problems using a wide range of technologies such as Hadoop, MapReduce, Hive, Spark, NoSQL, and traditional relational databases like MySQL.
· Experience in building real-time streaming data pipelines using technologies like Kafka, Spark Streaming, ELK, etc.
· Experience in building ETL/ELT data pipelines, data quality checks, data anomaly detection, and notification systems.
· Experience in building large-scale distributed data processing systems with high availability, low latency, and strong data consistency.
· Programming experience with languages such as Java or Python.
· Experience in agile development incorporating continuous integration and continuous delivery.
· Strong problem-solving ability combined with excellent facilitation and analytical skills.
· Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
· Ability to present complex ideas in a clear and concise manner.
· Being able to contribute to deep application and system architecture discussions.
· Zeal for delivering zero-defect code that meets or exceeds proposed defect SLAs and a high sense of accountability for the quality and timeliness of your deliverables and team deliverables.

Work Hours: Depending on the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires 5-10% travel.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The role will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, and frequently operate standard office equipment such as telephones and computers.

The estimated base salary range for a new hire into this position is $130,100 to $169,200, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). The actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, experience, and location. Additionally, this position may be eligible for a bonus, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and a Wellness Program.
