This position is a 6-month co-op to join Amazon Robotics full time (40 hours/week) from January to June 2024. This co-op opportunity with Amazon Robotics may be either based in the Greater Boston Area at our state-of-the-art facilities in Westborough, MA and North Reading, MA or in Seattle, WA. Both locations offer an exclusive chance to have direct access to robotics testing labs and manufacturing facilities. The Advanced Product Quality Engineering (APQE) organization is looking for a talented and driven Product Quality Engineer Co-op with an interest in working with a collection of innovative advanced technologies and engaging with complex and state-of-the-art manufacturing environments. You will be responsible for collaborating with cross functional technical teams to resolve problems and implement product enhancements. You will actively work with hardware, production, and external vendors to deliver the highest quality products at the lowest cost. Key job responsibilities: The Product Quality Engineer Intern will be responsible for: - Collaborating with stakeholders in requirements development for new product development. - Identifying continuous improvement opportunities and leading team's continuous improvement initiatives. - Evaluating quality defects and coordinating internal escalations. - Assisting in failure analysis. - Assisting in internal quality investigations and CAPAs. - Developing suppliers and communicating to reduce defects. - Working with field quality and maintenance engineering to triage issues. - Presenting findings to leadership and at Quarterly Business Reviews. - Assisting in data collection and visualization. We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations: Seattle, WA, USA | Westborough, MA, USA Basic qualifications: - Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, or related education. - Currently enrolled in College or University and must have at least one semester/term/quarter of school left to complete after the end of the co-op. - Graduation date of December 2024 or later. - Must be eligible and available for a full-time (40h/week) 6-month co-op from January to June 2024. Preferred qualifications: - Previous experience in a professional environment. - Data analysis skill set and experience in using visualization tools such as Tableau. - Previous experience with databases, SQL and/or scripting language(s). - Knowledge of standard quality tools including 5-Why, Fishbone Analysis, 8D, Controls Plans, and FMEA. - Functional knowledge of measurement hand tools. - Basic understanding of statistical techniques including Cpk, GR&R, sampling plans. - Experience in Control of Non-Conforming process. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Understanding of metrics, process capabilities, LEAN, databases, data collection and mining. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. - PPAP/APQP experience. - Ability to interpret GD&T blueprints. Our compensation takes into account the cost of labor across various U.S. geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $37.16/hr in our lowest geographic market up to $103.65/hr in our highest geographic market. Pay is determined by a variety of factors including market location and may differ depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
