As an Applied Scientist, you will be defining, owning, and driving the science behind multiple machine learning models, aiding numerous product/engineering teams and organizations. You will collaborate with product management and technical leadership to identify innovative opportunities to improve customer-facing experiences. Moreover, you will identify new investment opportunities and work towards aligning product roadmaps to these opportunities. As a scientific leader, you will not only develop unique scientific solutions but also influence strategy and outcomes across diverse Amazon organizations such as Search, Personalization, and more. This role is intrinsically cross-functional, demanding strong communication, influence, and trust building abilities with software engineers, technical, and business leadership.
Potential work locations include Sunnyvale, CA, USA.
Basic Qualifications:
- PhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years of CS, CE, ML, or related field experience
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or related languages
- Experience in developing and implementing deep learning algorithms, particularly computer vision algorithms
- Publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in using Unix/Linux
- Professional software development experience

Our compensation reflects labor costs across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market to $222,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is determined by various factors including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
